Description: The University of Maryland School of Dentistry's Dental Hygiene Program partners with the Maryland Dental Hygienists' Association annually to offer Sealants, free-of-charge to students in local schools. Sealants are a clear, colorless, odorless, protective plastic coating applied to the chewing surfaces of permanent molars and have been proven effective at helping reduce tooth decay. This service is targeted at children ages 6-12 who are receiving reduced-fee or free lunches. This event is usually scheduled in early May so parents need to call in advance, during the month of April to schedule an appointment for the day of the event.
