Title: Public Allies Maryland
Description: Housed at the SWCOS main office, Public Allies Maryland is the Maryland operating partner of Public Allies, a National AmeriCorps grantee. Public Allies recruits young people between the ages of 18 and 30 and places them full time four days a week for 10 months in nonprofit organizations throughout the Baltimore region. Public Allies also provides coaching and support for the Ally once they are placed at an organization. On the fifth day, Allies receive intensive leadership training provided through the University Of Maryland School Of Social Work. This training focuses on three areas: personal development, professional development and understanding organizational development. In addition, Allies create and implement team service projects which strengthen local communities. Social Work interns work as Program Managers, coaching the Allies to reach their objectives and during the team service projects
