A Message from the Chair of Search and Screening Committee

The Search and Screening Committee has the important responsibility of identifying and recommending a short list of individuals who are qualified to be the next leader of UMB. The Chancellor and the Board of Regents have appointed an excellent committee which represents all UMB constituencies. I am honored to be the chairman of this committee. I look forward to the upcoming months as we go through the process of establishing criteria on which to judge potential candidates, screening nominations and applicants, interviewing candidates and making our recommendations to the Chancellor and the Board.

During this process we invite both nominations and applications for the position. As soon as the criteria are established, they will be posted on this site. As soon as the ad is developed, it will also be posted on this site. All nominations and applications should be forwarded directly to the executive search consultant:

As many of you know, Korn Ferry is one of the leading executive recruiting firms in the world. The firm is very familiar with the unique nature of UMB since it assisted the university in recent senior level searches. Dr. Ross is Senior Client Partner in the Health Services and the Academic Health Center Practices of Korn Ferry. Ken Kring , who is also a Senior Client Partner and director of the North American Education Practice for Korn Ferry, will be a part of the UMB team as well.

UMB has not conducted a presidential search for 15 years. We have been most fortunate to have had a visionary president at the helm for that period of time. We look for the support of the entire community as we face the challenge of identifying a worthy successor.
